The Freecharge 12v personal energy source is a durable, lightweight and efficient power supply for mobile phones and other electronic devices. Powered by winding a hand crank, it is independent of conventional power supplies and batteries, enabling the user to make and receive calls at any time, even with a dead phone battery. It’s inevitable. When you need it most, your cell phone's battery is dead. That's Murphy's Law at the most inconvenient time. Now there's a Freeplay solution to charging your cell phone when there's a power failure or when you're just far from your phone charger — it's the Freeplay FreeCharge. The Freeplay Freecharge is a powerful, convenient, wind-up generator that doesn't just give your phone a bit of juice for a few seconds — its efficient enough to charge your cell phone for a real phone call.

With the Freecharge you can charge your cell phone wherever and whenever you need it. You can even wind it while on a call to keep the conversation going as long as you need. A green LED indicator light tells you when you are winding at the right speed for maximum efficiency. The Freecharge's internal battery can also be charged using your cell phone's AC adapter or with the included cigarette lighter charger. When fully charged, the Freecharge even works as a spare battery for your phone — without any winding from you until the battery is fully drained and its time to crank it up again. When used in “wind-up” mode, the Freecharge is equipped with an LED charge level indicator that illuminates when the handle is turned at the correct speed, however the more effort the user exerts the more energy is supplied to the mobile phone, and its performance is increased accordingly.

The FreeCharge consists of a generic base unit and interfaces to the handset through a cigarette lighter socket. The charging protocols are matched to individual handsets by plugging a cigarette lighter charger specific to each phone (not supplied). (If you are charging your phone in your car-you already have the lighter adapter needed) With a comfortable and sustainable winding effort, the FreeCharge will adapt its output to match the requirements of the recipient device via the cigarette charger.

Regulated to deliver the same voltage output as an automobile while cranking, the FreeCharge 12V provides a portable power supply for a wide range of applications using up to 12 volts.

Typical Performance:
360 turns (approx. 3 min wind) = 9-11 min talk time
60 Second wind = 2-4 min talk time

For mobile phone applications talk time performance from the FreeCharge 12V is influenced by several factors. These include phone make and model, signal strength, battery condition, durations of winding effort and the charging characteristics of the cigarette charger used.

Most mobile phones have low voltage cut-out circuitry in order to protect the battery and retain stored memory data when the battery is flat. In order that this circuitry does not impact on repeatable talk time performance it is recommended that a minimum of 3 minutes winding be applied.
